Competency Application Process
The Competency Application Process is a way for professional development opportunities, offered through sources other than the EITC, to be assigned competencies needed for certification as an EI specialist. These other sources include educational offerings within EI programs, at statewide conferences, in regional forums, with community partners, online, or as part of other venues.
The instructions located with the application materials will guide you through the application process. We have recently revised the instructions and application for both individuals and organizations.
Please review the instructions and application thoroughly. Contact Mary Beth Curley if you have any questions.

When completing the application please remember to:
- Clearly identify one person as the contact even if the educational offering is jointly sponsored
- Specifically document how the competencies requested will be addressed in the educational offering
Please note: The competency application process calls for assignment of competencies to be made before the educational offering occurs. However, we will continue to accept retroactive applications for competency assignment from individuals.
